End of season update
I finished my last two races of the year with the Woodsfield 12 hour race and the Stone Steps 50K. It will be good to go at a little slower pace, although I don't anticipate taking much time off. I'll just turn down the intesity a little.
I hope to have some race reports completed soon.
Tapering for 12 Hour
I'm going with a short taper for the 12 hour race of about a week and a half. My long run last week was a 15 miler, resulting in a 62 mile week. That's a little hefty for the week before a 12 hour event, but everything is cranking along great. The long term weather forecast looks great - a high in the 60's with a 30% chance of rain.
I like timed events like this one. You essentially get to setup your own aid station with exactly what you want, and you get to pass it every mile. I'm really looking forward to this one.
Mid September update
It's been a while, but I've been pretty busy. This weekend I ran the Dawg Gone Long Run 50 miler at Ceasar Creek outside of Dayton, Ohio. It's best described as an old school ultra. Participants included 50 mile virgins as well as many accomplished runners. The course was interesting; not too many memorable hills to mention, but there were tons of little ones and lots of twists and turns and roots. I'll give a full report whenever I get the chance, but look for this race next year if you are in the area. It was a great time.
Training is progressing well for my next goal event, which is the Woodsfield 12 hour race for Childrens Hospitals on October 3. I will update on that soon.
August is done
I didn't post much at all in August, but it was a great training month that included a 108 mile week and the Germantown 50K. Next race in two weeks...Dawg Gone Long run 50 miler.
More great runs
The past couple weeks have been productive. I've been able to handle work, school, and a decent running schedule. Not many aches and pains to report. Just enjoying running and still feeling pretty good after MMT. That was one tough race.
